BX1 TV was established as a non-profit association and is a private non-profit sector. It retains the mandate to issue a decree governing the French Community’s framework for audiovisual media services and defining public service missions. Finally, it operates under a management contract concluded with the French Community Commission (Cocof) in Brussels.

The building, which has been hosting the studios of the chain since 1995, is a former tobacco factory converted by SDRB (Brussels Capital Region Development Company), Gosset cigarette factory in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. BX1 is currently developing a project to build a new center on Boulevard Reyers on the Mediapark 2 regional development post.
