EBS, which started with the acquisition of radio school broadcasting in 1974, has a long time that has spread from educational broadcasting in 1990, education broadcasting in 1997, satellite education broadcasting in 1997, and its construction started in 2000 and the world’s best education media group.

The channel was first opened by the Korean Broadcasting System in 1981 as KBS3, and all educational television programs previously broadcast on other KBS channels were moved to a private channel.

In 1990, when responsibility for publishing educational content left KBS, the channel became part of the newly created Educational Broadcasting System. The channel has been rebranded as EBS Television.

In 2000, the Educational Broadcasting System itself was transformed into a public institution. Digital terrestrial broadcasting started on November 5, 2001 on channel 10.1. In 2015, when EBS2 was released, EBS was rebranded as EBS1.
